Instrument Cleaning

1. Disinfection: Immerse the nippers in a disinfecting solution (such as Staleks Pro disinfectant) following the manufacturer’s instructions, typically for 15-30 minutes. Use agents effective against hepatitis B, C viruses, and dermatomycoses.
2. Washing: Rinse device under running water with a detergent, using a soft brush for joints. For best results, use an ultrasonic bath.
3. Drying: Lay the nippers open and blade side up on disposable paper towels, ensuring complete dryness before sterile packaging.
4. Sterilization: Sterilize using either physical (steam autoclave, dry heat) or chemical methods, according to sterilizer/solution guidelines.

Sterilization and Disinfection Recommendations:

• Do not soak nippers in water for extended periods to prevent loss of anti-corrosion protection.
• Use disinfectants specifically for metal tools; avoid harsh chemicals like acetone or alkali.
• Submerge nippers at least 1 cm in the solution; follow recommended concentration and exposure time.
• Thoroughly rinse off disinfectant to prevent corrosion.
• Allow cooling inside the autoclave/dry-heat sterilizer to avoid thermal shock to steel.
• Do not exceed 70% load in the sterilizer; arrange sterile pouches in a single layer.
• Check indicator strips after sterilization; open sterile instruments only before use on the client.

How to Check Cutting Quality

1. Prepare a stretched film for testing.
2. Hold the nippers as you would during work, place the film between the edges, and make a smooth cut.
3. If the cut is even and smooth, the tool is suitable for work. If not, sharpen or replace the tool.
